You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you — known as a subject access request.
To make one, contact our privacy team or use the General Support Enquiry form, telling us it is a data subject access request. We will verify your identity and respond within the statutory time limit. The 'Your rights' section of our Privacy Policy explains the process and the other rights you have over your data.
Good to know
A subject access request covers personal information held about an individual, not the wider commercial records we keep on the borrowing company or LLP itself — things like credit agreements, board resolutions, or company financials fall outside its scope, even where they mention you by name.
Because we lend to limited companies and LLPs rather than individual consumers, most of what we hold about a business relates to the entity, not a person. If you are asking on behalf of a company rather than about yourself personally, our business data request route may be more relevant, and our privacy team can point you to whichever applies once you get in touch.
In practice
Once you contact us through the General Support Enquiry form and confirm it is a subject access request, we will first need to verify who you are before we can search for or release anything — this protects your information from being handed to the wrong person.
After identity checks are complete, we gather the relevant personal data from our systems, review it to make sure nothing belonging to someone else is included by mistake, and send it to you in a clear, readable format along with an explanation of what it covers and why we hold it.
