Automated profiling and your rights to opt out or request human review

Credicorp uses automated systems to assess loan applications. Under UK GDPR, you have specific rights when a significant decision is made about you — or your company — solely by automated means. This page explains those rights and how to use them.

What automated decisioning means at Credicorp

When you apply for a Credicorp business loan, our systems automatically analyse data from multiple sources — including business credit data, your company's bank account activity, Companies House records, and AML checks — to reach a lending decision. In many cases, the decision (approve or decline) is reached without a human reviewing every application individually.

Why we use automated decisioning

Automated decisioning allows us to provide fast decisions (often within minutes) and to apply consistent criteria across all applications. It reduces the risk of individual human bias in lending. The criteria the systems use are reviewed and validated by human staff.

Your right to request human review

Under UK GDPR Article 22, where a decision has a significant effect on you and is made solely by automated means, you have the right to:

  • Request a human review of the decision — where a member of our team looks at your application and the system's output.
  • Express your point of view — give us context or additional information you believe is relevant.
  • Contest the decision — if you believe the automated output was wrong or unfair.

How to request a human review

If you received a decline decision and want a human review:

  1. Use the General Support Enquiry form. State clearly that you are requesting a human review of your automated decision under UK GDPR Article 22.
  2. Include your company name, application reference (in your decision notification email), and any additional context you want considered.
  3. We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and carry out a manual review, responding in writing within 30 days.

Does requesting a human review guarantee a different outcome?

No. A human review applies the same lending criteria, but it may reach a different outcome if the automated system did not have access to relevant information, if there was a data error, or if individual circumstances warrant a different assessment. We cannot guarantee an approval — and we are not obliged to change a decision that was fairly and correctly made.

Profiling in marketing

We may use limited profiling to decide which customers receive certain communications (for example, sending information about Flex only to existing loan customers).
