Many of our customers run UK businesses where English is not the primary language at home. We want to make sure language is never a barrier to accessing business finance or understanding your agreement.
What we can do
Plain English throughout
All of our documents, portal pages, and form letters are written in plain English. We actively avoid legal jargon where everyday language does the same job.
Clarification without judgement
If any part of your agreement, offer document, or communication is unclear, you are welcome to write to us asking for a simpler explanation. We will restate it in plain terms — never in legalese.
Time to consult a translator
If you need to have documents reviewed by someone who can translate or explain them in another language, contact us before any deadline (for example, the expiry date on your loan offer) and we will extend the period to give you time. We cannot provide in-house translation, but we will not penalise you for taking the time to understand what you are signing.
Written communication instead of telephone
If phone conversations in English are difficult, request that we communicate by email or through the portal's message system instead. Use the Accessibility and communication preferences form to set this preference.
What we need from you
We are required to conduct our business in English for regulatory and legal reasons — loan agreements and formal notices are always in English. However, for general support queries and explanations, we are happy to keep things as simple and clear as possible.
