What happens to my data if Credicorp is sold or acquired?

If Credicorp were to be sold, merged, or its loan book transferred to another entity, your data — as a company borrower and as the directors whose personal data we hold — would be affected. Here is what UK GDPR requires in that situation and what protections you have.

UK GDPR applies to data regardless of ownership changes

If Credicorp's business or assets were acquired by another company, the acquiring company would step into the role of data controller for the personal data it receives as part of the transaction. The data can only be transferred where a lawful basis for processing exists — usually the same basis Credicorp relied on (legitimate interest, contract, or legal obligation).

The acquiring company would be bound by Credicorp's existing privacy commitments and would need to notify you of any material change to how your data is processed.

Your rights do not change

Under UK GDPR, your rights as a data subject — to access your data, correct inaccuracies, restrict processing, or in some cases request deletion — apply regardless of who controls the data. If ownership changes, you can exercise those rights with the new controller in exactly the same way you would with Credicorp today.

Your loan agreement obligations continue independently

A change in business ownership does not extinguish your loan agreement obligations or ours. If a facility agreement were novated or assigned to another lender, you would be notified in advance under the terms of the agreement.

Current position

As of today, Credicorp Limited is a UK private limited company owned by CM Beyer Limited. There is no pending sale or transfer of which we are aware. This article addresses a hypothetical future scenario to explain your rights if that ever changed.

If you have a concern

If you receive any communication claiming to be from a new owner of Credicorp or its loan book, verify it before acting. Contact us directly using the details on our website to confirm the authenticity of any such communication.
