If your company is VAT-registered, holding your VAT number on the account keeps your records complete and consistent with your other business paperwork.
How to update it
- Go to Account > Company details > VAT number.
- Enter your VAT registration number exactly as HMRC issued it.
- Save — it’s stored against the company record.
A note on VAT and interest
Interest on a business loan is generally outside the scope of VAT, so recording your VAT number doesn’t change what you’re charged or add VAT to your interest — it’s simply keeping your company profile accurate. Your accountant confirms how the finance cost is treated on your returns. If you deregister from VAT later, update or remove the number here so the record stays right.
Most of this is self-service in your customer portal, which is the fastest route and available at any time. Where a change needs our team to verify it, we say so and give a realistic turnaround so you can plan around it.
