How do I get a reminder before a collection so I keep enough in the account?

A returned payment is easy to avoid with a nudge at the right moment. An upcoming-collection alert tells you a few days ahead that a Direct Debit is due, giving you time to make sure the money is in the account.

How to turn it on

  • Go to Account > Contacts & notifications > Payment alerts.
  • Enable Upcoming collection reminder and choose how many days’ notice you want.
  • Pick email, SMS or both.

Why it’s worth it

Keeping enough cleared funds in the account on the collection date is the single easiest way to avoid a failed payment, any knock-on effect, and the admin of putting it right. If cash is genuinely going to be short, the reminder also gives you time to talk to us before the payment fails, which always leaves more options open.

Most of this is self-service in your customer portal, which is the fastest route and available at any time. Where a change needs our team to verify it, we say so and give a realistic turnaround so you can plan around it.
