You can still apply, but the secure bank connection and the sign-off need a director, not your accountant. If your accountant holds your banking or software logins, arrange for a director to have the access needed to approve the Open Banking connection and to sign — the borrowing is the company's, so a director must commit it.
Where the director is essential
The Open Banking step happens on your bank's own login, and the agreement is signed by someone authorised to bind the company — how the open banking connection works when i apply and who at my company can sign off a credicorp application. We lend only to UK limited companies and LLPs, the loan is to the company with no director personal guarantee, and this is business finance outside the consumer-credit regime — as an exempt lender under Article 60B of the Regulated Activities Order we sit outside FCA consumer-credit regulation, so the Financial Ombudsman Service and FSCS do not apply.
