Although Credicorp lends to businesses in the exempt business lending market — outside the FCA's consumer-credit perimeter — we operate under a range of legal obligations and voluntary standards that govern how we treat customers and conduct our business.
Legal obligations that apply regardless of FCA authorisation
- UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018: We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller. All personal data we collect is processed in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.
- Anti-money laundering (AML): We apply customer due diligence and Know Your Business (KYB) checks under the UK Money Laundering Regulations. All borrowing companies and their directors are verified.
- Modern Slavery Act 2015: We publish a transparency statement covering our operations and supply chains — see our modern slavery statement.
- Equality Act 2010: We do not discriminate on protected characteristics in our lending decisions or customer interactions.
- Companies Act 2006: Credicorp is a UK private limited company and files accounts and confirmation statements at Companies House.
Our own published standards
In addition to legal obligations, we maintain our own published lending principles and responsible lending standards. These set out how we approach affordability assessment, cost disclosure, difficulty treatment, and customer communications. They are more specific than regulatory minimums and are designed to ensure we operate in a way we would be proud to defend publicly.
Complaints process
We maintain a formal complaints process with defined escalation steps and timelines. While the Financial Ombudsman Service does not cover our facilities, we operate our complaints process to a standard consistent with FCA requirements for authorised firms. If a complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction internally, we signpost appropriate external resources. See how to make a complaint.
We do not belong to trade associations
We are not currently a member of trade associations such as the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) or the UK Finance trade body. We operate our standards independently and do not rely on trade body codes as a proxy for quality.
