Payments

Why is my final instalment a different amount?

It surprises some directors that the final repayment on a loan is not always identical to the ones before it. This is normal and expected — it is the schedule rounding out to the penny so the balance lands exactly at zero.

Why the last payment differs

Regular instalments are calculated to a fixed figure, but tiny rounding differences build up across a term. The final instalment is adjusted — usually by pennies, sometimes a little more — to clear the balance exactly rather than leaving a fraction owing or a fraction overpaid. Your schedule and statement show the precise final figure.

Paying the exact closing amount

If you pay by Direct Debit, the final collection is set to the exact closing figure automatically, so there is nothing to do. If you are paying the last instalment manually, take the figure from your statement or ask us for the exact amount rather than repeating the usual instalment — that way the account closes cleanly with no small residual balance. See requesting a settlement figure if you want to close early instead.

After the final payment

Once the closing amount is paid, the facility is settled and closed. Keep the final statement as your record that the loan is fully repaid. If a small credit remains because of an overpayment, see getting a refund after settlement.

Credicorp lends to companies rather than to you personally, so this is business finance outside the consumer-credit regime. That does not change the practical steps below.
