Set up Credicorp email in Apple Mail (Mac)
Add your Credicorp mailbox to the Mail app on your Mac using a manual IMAP setup. It takes about five minutes. You will need your full Credicorp email address and your mailbox password.
Prefer to read your mail without setting anything up? You can sign in to Credicorp Webmail from any browser instead.
Before you start
- Have your full email address ready (for example
you@credicorp.co.uk) — not just the part before the@. - Have your mailbox password to hand. This is the password for your email account, which may differ from any other Credicorp sign-in.
- Credicorp Mail uses IMAP, which keeps your mail in sync across all your devices. POP is not offered.
Step-by-step
- Open Mail and add an account. Launch the Mail app. From the menu bar at the top of the screen, choose Mail → Add Account. If this is the first account on your Mac, the account screen may open by itself.
- Choose Other Mail Account. In the list of providers (iCloud, Google, Microsoft Exchange and so on), scroll to the bottom and select Other Mail Account…, then click Continue.
-
Enter your details. Fill in:
- Name — how you would like your name to appear on outgoing mail.
- Email Address — your full Credicorp email address.
- Password — your mailbox password.
-
Enter the server details. Apple Mail will try to set the account up
automatically. When it cannot, it shows a second screen asking for the servers. Set
Account Type to IMAP, then enter:
- Email Address — your full Credicorp email address.
- User Name — your full email address again (not just the bit before the
@). - Password — your mailbox password.
- Incoming Mail Server —
mail.credicorp.co.uk - Outgoing Mail Server —
mail.credicorp.co.uk
- Confirm and finish. If Apple Mail asks which apps to use with this account, leave Mail ticked and click Done. Your mailbox now appears in the sidebar and Apple Mail begins downloading your messages. The settings below show exactly what Apple Mail should be using — you can check them at any time under Mail → Settings → Accounts.
Credicorp mailbox settings
These are the canonical settings for every Credicorp mailbox. Use them exactly.
Incoming mail (IMAP)
| Server | mail.credicorp.co.uk |
|---|---|
| Port | 993 |
| Security | SSL/TLS |
| User name | Your full email address |
| Password | Your mailbox password |
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
| Server | mail.credicorp.co.uk |
|---|---|
| Port | 587 |
| Security | STARTTLS |
| Authentication | Required — same user name and password as incoming |
Checking the outgoing server in Apple Mail
Apple Mail sometimes hides the outgoing port behind an “Automatically manage connection settings” option. If sending fails, check it by hand:
- Choose Mail → Settings from the menu bar, then open the Accounts tab.
- Select your Credicorp account and open the Server Settings tab.
- Under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), untick Automatically manage connection settings.
- Set the Port to 587, tick Use TLS/SSL, and set Authentication to Password with your full email address and mailbox password.
- Confirm the Incoming Mail Server port is 993 with Use TLS/SSL ticked, then Save.
If it doesn’t connect
- Use your full email address as the user name. Apple Mail will not connect with just the part before the
@. - Check the ports and security. Incoming is 993 / SSL/TLS; outgoing is 587 / STARTTLS. A “cannot verify server identity” warning usually means the port or security type is wrong.
- Double-check your password. If you are unsure it is correct, sign in to Webmail first — if Webmail works, the same address and password will work in Apple Mail.
- Don’t use POP. Credicorp Mail is IMAP only. Make sure the account type is set to IMAP.
