Payments

How do I handle a repayment date that lands on a bank holiday?

Collection dates that land on a non-working day are handled sensibly — you don’t need to do anything unusual, but knowing the mechanics helps you keep the account funded.

What happens

  • A Direct Debit due on a weekend or bank holiday is typically collected on the next working day.
  • The amount doesn’t change — only the day it lands.
  • Your upcoming-collection alert still gives you notice.

Keeping funded

Because the collection can move to the next working day, keep the funds in place across the holiday rather than assuming they’re needed on the exact date — that way an early or on-time collection never catches you short. Bank holidays can also add a day to a payment you make clearing, so if you’re paying manually around one, allow extra time.

Most of this is self-service in your customer portal, which is the fastest route and available at any time. Where a change needs our team to verify it, we say so and give a realistic turnaround so you can plan around it.
